Three graduate students at the UC Berkeley Master of City Planning program are focusing their capstone project on Bancroft Ave from Seminary to 67th. They’ve met with many of our neighbors and heard concerns around safety on Bancroft. They would like to to understand how different design ideas for this section of Bancroft and key intersections (like Seminary & Havenscourt) might help improve traffic safety for the surrounding neighborhoods. They are also interested in how some of these ideas might help support public health and local businesses in the area.

If you are interested in this project, you are invited to the upcoming workshops to discuss your thoughts about Bancroft Ave. The students will present design ideas based on the issues they’ve heard about so far and would like to gather Havenscourt resident feedback. In particular, they would like to determine what aspects of these design options residents like you like and don’t like.

Once their project is complete, they will send a report to the City of Oakland that can inform decision-making and future work on Bancroft Ave and help put the needs of Havenscourt residents at the center of the city’s investments.
